Dr. Malesra grew up in Cranston, Rhode Island and attended LaSalle Academy, where he was a National Merit Scholarship Finalist. Dr. Malesra then enrolled at Boston College, where he graduated in 2005 with a degree in Psychology and a concentration in Biopsychology. While at BC, he was a volunteer EMT and a member of the Dean’s List.
Dr. Malesra returned to Boston to attend the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. There he was on the Dean’s List and cited for high performance on the National Board Dental Examinations. While not in the classroom or the lab, Dr. Malesra was the Vice President of his fraternity and enjoyed tutoring junior dental students. He also became involved in providing care to underserved populations, such as at-risk youth in Boston and inmates at the RI Department of Corrections.
After graduating from dental school, Dr. Malesra was selected to join the General Practice Residency program at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, NY. The residency curriculum included didactic and clinical experience in all facets of dentistry, including fixed and removable prosthodontics, oral surgery, endodontics, cosmetic dentistry, implants, and laser dentistry. As a resident at one of the largest Level-1 Trauma Centers in New York, Dr. Malesra also received training in maxillofacial trauma and dentoalveolar surgery. Rotations throughout the hospital and dental clinics included training in nitrous oxide, oral pharmacological, and IV sedation in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Now back in Rhode Island, Dr. Malesra is excited to be able to provide comprehensive dental care to members of his home community. He is a member of the Rhode Island Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. When not at the office, Dr. Malesra enjoys traveling, reading, supporting local sports teams, and-most importantly-spending time with friends and family.
